8 Crazy Nights of Freebies & Bargains for Freelance Writers - Makealivingwriting.comNo matter what holiday you celebrate this time of year, I’m here to make it a festive season for you.

Since I celebrate Hanukkah — which this year, starts tonight — I’ve decide to create my own online festival of light for writers, by bringing you a series of free offers and super-cheap discount deals. There will be a different offer each day!

Hanukkah is a festival of light and miracles…of the freedom to worship as you choose, a theme that’s more relevant than ever this year. Of believing you can banish the darkness, even when all seems hopeless. I’m hoping to enlighten some writers and bring them some serious help over next 8 days. Because when you’re able to get free help and go from earning peanuts to earning real money…it truly is like a miracle. Right?

While I’m announcing this 8 Crazy Nights extravaganza here on a blog post, if you’re not a subscriber to this blog, you won’t see most of the rest of these offers including some of my best-ever bargains for freelance writers. They’ll only be going out on email. So if you’re not a subscriber, you might want to sign up now.

Ready? Let’s get rolling…

Night 1: Starting Small

In my family, small gifts traditionally came first during this holiday, so I’m starting with one small free offer today.

Here it is: The first 18 commenters on this post will receive a free, 1-month pass to Freelance Writers Den (a $25 value).

(Note: If you’re already a Den member, this isn’t the freebie offer for you — stay tuned for more goodies!)

If you’ve always wanted a peek behind the curtain inside my exclusive membership community, here is your chance to head on in. Take a bootcamp, grab a sample contract, or ask a question on the forums.

How will it work? I’ll round up the first 18 emails from the comments below and forward them over to my tech team. They’ll be in touch with your Den access info.

If you’re busy this holiday season, no worries — your 1-month pass actually activates on the day you decide to use it and log in. Then, you’ve got 30 days to explore our resources, which include 300+ pieces of audio/video/contracts/scripts/templates/price guides and more.

When 18 comments have posted below, you can assume the free tickets are gone. I’ll post a comment and confirm that, too, when it happens.

That isn’t all the free stuff that’s included in my 8-day celebration, either. It’s just the beginning. Got a couple other offers to tell you about, too…

Free live coaching call + replay

Yes, this Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 11 Pacific / 2 Eastern, I’ll be taking any and all questions about how to earn well as a freelance writer in a live event — absolutely free. And I’ll be sending out the recording to my subscribers at the end of this festival of giving, next Sunday.

Participation info and that replay link are *only* going out via email to my blog subscribers…so subscribe to attend. (And if you’re already a subscriber, check your email — already sent you the details.)

Note: Nothing is for sale on this call. There is no hidden agenda I’m going to spring on you. Just a full hour of practical tips and coaching to say ‘thank you’ to my awesome subscribers.

Essay contest on Facebook

Would you like to win a bundle of all my offers during this 8-day season of giving? Then bring your best 200-word max, uplifting, enlightening essay to the Make a Living Writing Facebook page and post it on the “Contest: Bring Us Light” thread.

This contest will be running all week, until the last night of Hanukkah, on Sunday, Dec. 13. I’ll declare a winner at 5 p.m. Pacific time (so I can head off and light my menorah!).

To enter, post your essay, like the page, and share the post with your Facebook friends. Yes, likes for your essay *will* be a judging factor, so spread the word once you’ve posted! Full instructions and details on the prizes (including $350 worth of goodies for the grand prize winner!) are on the post over on Facebook.

I’m hoping we’ll get a stellar set of uplifting mini-essays in this contest and spread a lot of holiday-season light and joy. Post a success story, a confidence-builder, an inspiration you recently found. I can’t wait to read your entry!

How are you bringing light to this holiday season? Tell us in the comments below — and win a free month in Freelance Writers Den. (And remember to subscribe to get in on all 8 days of special deals and freebies.)

Hi Carol – I clicked on the link in your email today (for the $8.88 deal) and saw two error messages:

“This recipient does not accept payments denominated in USD. Please contact the seller and ask him to update his payment receiving preferences to accept this currency.”

“At this time, we are unable to process your request. Please return to and try another option.”

    Can you please help? Thanks!

Happy Hanukkah. Hope you have a blessed holiday. This is a very generous act on your part. Unfortunately, I was not one of the 18, but I imagine you will have other great gifts to bestow.

Happy Hanukkah! I won’t be available to celebrate the entire week, but this is a really awesome idea and a fabulous way to boost your email list and Facebook engagement. I love it.

Barb, see above — the 18 free passes are gone, sorry! But MANY more giveaways, insane deals and freebies are coming in the next week. Feel free to come over to Facebook and do the essay contest!

Hi, I’m new to the site, but excited to check everything out and see if I catch any great deals. Chanukah sameach!

    • Carol Tice on

See my note above…the first 18 went quick! But many more free and ridiculously affordable offers are coming in the next 7 days. 😉 And the Den will be open for new members at some point this month…be on the waiting list.

Love everything you do for writers. I saw yoye offer early, but was singing for the Christmas concert at church… Couldn’t respond!

Not to be a stick in the mud, it appears the folks on the East Coast had a 3 hour advantage. Already a posting at 9:05 am, and it is only 8:15 here on the West Coast. I will sulk for a few minutes, but get over it (ha). Always great information Carol and Happy Hanukkah.

Onward and upwards, never accepting those low ball jobs is the only way to make a reasonable living writing.

Best wishes from north of the Border in Vancouver.

    Wayne

Carol, like everyone, I love your stuff! However, I am going out on a limb here, but I haven’t seen you post the limit. You also asked what are we doing to bring light to the holidays? I just had to share- After months of not bringing in any income, I had a really nice $500 gig this week- so I will be helping, well, keep the lights on! Just paid the electric bill!!

I know we’ve passed 18 but I just wanted to say that this is really very kind and thoughtful of you. As a single mom with 4 kids, I struggle during holiday season. It is nice to see someone giving and truly celebrating what these holidays are about. Thanks for bringing some light to my day. =)

Happy Chanukah Carol! What a wonderful reminder that there is good in the world during difficult times. Counting down the hours until the first candle and latkes.

    • Carol Tice on

Lek, by my count you’re #23…sorry you didn’t make the first 18!

But the good news is, anyone who’s interested should join the Den waiting list NOW. We will likely have at least one day of new-member opening before the end of the year, but I’ll only tell that list. Go to http://freelancewritersden.com and make sure you’re on there!

    Carol,

As someone who walked away from her religion years ago, I often forget how powerful traditions are – and how important it is to remember the core meaning they convey. Light and hope in darkness, the element of something bigger and better than our current situation. Thank you for expressing these sentiments and sharing the gifts. Have a wonderful Hanukkah.

    • Carol Tice on

Thanks, Alicia! I feel like this winter, it’s been such a dark time — terrorism and random mass shootings. We need to turn toward hope, and light. I’m so excited about this week! Lot of planning went into it, and I hope people enjoy. Can’t wait to see what’s going on over on Facebook with the essay contest!

  11. Michael Wilts on

Always fun see what goes on behind the curtain. These resources should come in handy. Thanks for making these available! Cheers!

    • Carol Tice on

And…I think this is 18, and everyone above here is in. I need to check a couple names above and make sure they’re not ALREADY Den members and ineligible, but everyone above this mark is definitely in! Back shortly with a final verdict.

  12. Daniel Mullan on

Have a great Hanukkah holidays, Carol. I’m looking forward to seeing inside the Freelance Writers Den.
    Best.
    Dan

Wow! This can’t be ignored. This is the best offer I got in 2015.

Wonder what are the other gifts in Santa bag this year.

    Thanks

  14. Harriet Cooper on

Happy Hanukkah. I like how you took the concept of light and adapted it to writing. I don’t know about you, but I looked forward to potato latkes tonight.
